Build a Primary School in South Sudan

According to UNICEF, South Sudan primary school enrollment rate is at 54% as of 2007, one of the lowest enrollment rates in the world.

Founded in 2009 by Miss South Sudan 2009/2010 - Eunice Malath, South Sudan Children Organization is a non-profit organization that aims to combat education disparities facing the region of South Sudan by building a primary school in the area.

South Sudan is a region that has been in war with North Sudan government for decades from 1955-1972 (First Civil War) and 1983-2005 (Second Civil War). The stresses imposed by decades of civil wars on South Sudan’s infrastructure nearly collapsed its education system as primary schools built prior to the eruption of the Second Civil War resulted in the destruction of primary schools and other learning facilities.

After experiencing over 40 years of civil unrest, availability of education is limited to the general public which is further compromised by the lack of adequate schools to accommodate the needs of the people.
